Jazz Echo Bios


Gary Bohan (trumpet, flugelhorn) performs with a variety of Boston-based bands encompassing a range of styles including klezmer, jazz and big band including: Brad Ellenberg Quintet, Jazz Composers Alliance Orchestra, Bessarabian Breakdown and Naftule’s Dream.  Gary has recorded and toured with the Klezmer Conservatory Band throughout North America, Europe and Australia during which time he also recorded and toured with Itzhak Perlman’s “In the Fiddler’s House” project and performed with Joel Grey’s revival of “Borscht Capades”.

Mario Cerra has performed at several international music festivals and on various commercial recordings. Mario plays everything from the bottom of his soul and blends an extraordinary technical ability with loads of creativity. His multi reed ability allows Jazz Echo compositions to be written for different voices, including soprano sax.

Prior to residing in the Boston area, Mario was known as one of Argentina’s most sought-after musicians as a band leader, sideman, recording artist, and music educator. He continues to teach through a number of local music academies and programs. http://mariocerra.com/

Bob Abruzese  has been a fixture on the Boston music circuit since the early 1990s. His bass playing is a major component of Jazz Echo compositions, sometimes acting as the first soloist on a tune. Bob’s interpretations of the compositions greatly enhance the music.

Bob has toured throughout the United States and Europe, playing in clubs and festivals. He has appeared with The Shirley Lewis Experience, Boston Baked Blues, Amyl Justin, and many other ensembles.

Dave Kantor is a voice of leadership in Jazz Echo, handling drums with precision and deftness. He is constantly in touch with the heart of the song, and every note he plays is dedicated to maximum enhancement of the composition. His attention to detail, awareness of time, tempo, and compositional drumming craft that special Jazz Echo feel.

Dave has performed with many Boston-area ensembles, including the Roy Scott Big Band, The Dixie Diehards, and The Mazel-Tones.

Bryan Cetlin is Jazz Echo’s pianist and composer, whose works form a key part of Jazz Echo’s repertoire and  are  featured on all of the band’s recordings. Read more about Bryan Cetlin here.
